Failure
Facts and Trivia
"Fail" is the name of a popular
Internet meme where users superimpose a caption, often the word
"fail" or "epic fail", onto photos or short videos
depicting unsuccessful events or people falling short of expectations. In July
2003, a contributor to Urban Dictionary wrote that the term, "fail,"
could be used as an interjection, "when one disapproves of
something," citing the example: "You actually bought that?
FAIL." This most likely originated as a shortened form of "You
fail" or, more fully, "You fail it," the taunting "game
over" message in the 1998 Japanese video game Blazing Star, notorious for
its fractured English.There is an
entire Internet site dedicated to "fails" called Fail Blog. The #fail
hash tag is used on the microblogging site
Twitter to indicate contempt or displeasure, and the image that accompanies the
message that the site is overloaded is referred to as the "fail whale".

Short Stories
We all have dreams in life and as we grow
older our dreams differ. As a kid you dream of toys, the next thing you want to
be a billionaire. But as they say every success stories go through failures, we
can’t avoid it or run away from it. It happens.
There are moments that you feel nothings right and
everything seems to fall apart. Philip Gipaya had moments like that. He felt that the world is
always against him, that everything that happens to him isn’t just right. He is
a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Marine Technology in Fatima College School
in Manila. Many would say he’s one lucky kid but not to him. He doesn’t want
that course and he just finished it because it’s what his parents’ desire. He
has sacrificed his happiness for his parents.
During his study in Manila, he was once accused of
cheating, which he said he didn’t do. He was hurt because his classmates look
at him differently.
On his second year in college his mother and two
siblings migrated to USA. His mother said that Philip and his eldest sister
will follow them soon after his mother had fixed all the papers for them to
migrate as well.
His mother said it will only take a year, but it took
more than that. He graduated college, two years after his mother had left. Life
without his parents is sad. He graduated without his family to celebrate it
while his classmates are happily sharing that moment with their families.
He felt lost
and asked God why is He keeping him lonely. The worst doesn’t just end there.
After Philip's graduation they had an interview at the US embassy, Philip
thought he could finally be with his family, but unfortunately his sister was
the only one leaving the country. Philip’s application was rejected because
there were problems with his birth certificate and he was alone once more. Now,
Philip’s here in Bulan and left
alone. While he’s waiting for his papers to be fixed he enrolled in SIT. He
said he had cried enough already. He can’t explain how painful it is to be left
here alone while his family is on the other side of the world. Though he still
have hope of being with them soon and don’t give up and keep his patience.
"I
take you to be my lawfully wedded,
to have and to hold, from this day
forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in
health, until death do us part."
Weddings are so wonderful. Every girl wish to
walk on the aisle and take vows together with the man they love. Vicky is one
of those girls who dreamed of that. She wants to have a happily ever after marriage with
the man she truly loves. She got married to the love of her lie on April 22,
1984.it was a magical moment and she strongly believe that it would last
forever. But something has changed as years goes by.

Vicky and Felix were blessed with five beautiful
children. They were a happy family and Felix had been a good father buy one day
she had noticed something with Felix. He always gets home late and when Vicky
would ask where he from it would only turn in an argument. Until one day she
found out that Felix is cheating on her. The magic finally ended when Felix
left them for another girl. For fifteen years of togetherness she didn’t
imagine that day would come. She was devastated. She didn’t know how to tell
her kids about their father leaving them for good. What made
their life more difficult is that Felix didn’t support them financially and
Vicky has to support her family alone. Vicky worked hard to provide all the
needs of her five children especially those who are in college.
Vicky didn’t
give up, she continued to fight the pain brought by her husband’s dishonesty.
She was able to support her children’s education through college. Her eldest
daughter Che is a graduate
of Industrial and Manufacturing Engr., Alex is Electronics and Communication
Engr., Lesley is a Civil Engr., and her twin son are still studying. Her
children studied hard to show their father that they can live without him.
Now Vicky is an underwriter at BF Life St.
Peter Life Plan Chapels. According to her even though her marriage didn’t
worked and she failed to find the right man, she is still happy because she has
loving children and that is more than enough for her. She said that
getting married is not an assurance of happily ever after life. There are a lot
of challenges that will come and try to ruin your and if both of you are not strong enough and
faithful to your promises when you take your vows, it will not work just like
what happened to them.

Failure is
inevitable. It is experienced by every individual. The only thing that differs
it from each person is on how they take it. Some people take failure as a
stepping stone, some can’t just let it go and to some failure means “I just got
to stop trying” or “”maybe it’s not meant for me”. It doesn’t mean you’ve given
up but it’s a realization. Realizing you don’t need what you’ve been trying to
get because you already have what truly matters.
It was a realization made by Mr. Cesar Gubaton, a retired
municipal fire marshall and the
present president of NAGMATA NA Inc. (Nagkakaisang Maralitang Tapat at Naninindigan Inc.) when he decided to stop aiming the position of Brgy. Captain in Brgy. San Vicente,
Bulan, Sorsogon after three
consecutive losses in the election. He was an advocate of peace and order and
helping the youth, good governance and ethical leadership.
A chance of
performing his advocacy wasn’t given to him in the thought of him not being
involved to gambling and doesn’t drink nor smoke had negativity. He says people
might had the wrong impression towards him because he plans on getting rid of
the cock fight in the barangay if he was ever elected as Brgy. Captain.
Thrice he had took the risk of running as a public
servant but it was his third time that he felt that the people he lean on
failed him. He says he didn’t plan on running for the third time anymore but
his friends encouraged him to go once more, now that the municipal mayor is on
his side, he will win. Unfortunately, he failed for the third time. It was then
he realized that maybe politics isn’t his line of success. He is now contented
with his simple life, being the father of eight beautiful children who all
graduated with a degree and that’s more
of an accomplishment to him. Though he had not got the throne, he will continue
serving the public in any way he could extend a hand in helping the people.
What I admire
about Mr. Gubaton is that his
failures didn’t give any negative effect on his personal outlook in life. He treid, he failed,
that’s it. He doesn’t keep hard feelings grudge, or anything to anyone.
